Taylor Swift gets candid about her battle with eating disorder

Taylor Swift has been in the limelight since the beginning of her musical career. Moreover, she is regarded as one of the most influential musicians in the world due to her artistic reinventions, and impactful songwriting.

Nevertheless, the 33-year-old multiple Grammy Award-winning singer has also been vocal about her support for body positivity and women’s empowerment.

In addition, the songwriter talked about her struggle with eating disorders in her Netflix documentary, titled Taylor Swift: Miss Americana in 2020.

Furthermore, she revealed the reason for her disorder in a significant portion of the documentary. She also recalled the time when she struggled with her body image.

She said  ‘It’s not good for me to see pictures of myself every day. . . It’s only happened a few times, and I’m not in any way proud of it.’

She continued, ‘A picture of me where I feel like I looked like my tummy was too big, or. . . someone said that I looked pregnant. . . and that’ll just trigger me to just starve a little bit—just stop eating.’

Swift mentioned, ‘I thought that I was supposed to feel like I was going to pass out at the end of a show, or in the middle of it. Now I realize, no, if you eat food, have energy, get stronger, you can do all these shows and not feel (enervated).’

Taylor Swift recalls when a tabloid story prompted her deepest insecurities

Taylor Swift sat down with Variety for an interview before the premiere of her film Taylor Swift: Miss Americana.

Additionally, she recalled the time when a magazine cover story alleged that she got pregnant at the age of 18 because of her outfit structure.

She commented, ‘I remember how, when I was 18, that was the first time I was on the cover of a magazine.’

She added, ‘And the headline was like “Pregnant at 18?” And it was because I had worn something that made my lower stomach look not flat. So, I just registered that as a punishment.’

Meanwhile, despite her battle with body image, Swift has successfully emerged even stronger. She also continues to advocate for self-love and body positivity.

Besides that, the Love Story singer dropped her last studio album titled, Midnight on 29th October 2022. She is presently on the road for her Eras Tour which is expected to conclude on 9th August 2023.
