Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour has dominated headlines, breaking numerous records, including becoming the highest-grossing tour ever, and the first to surpass $1 billion in revenue. However, Shakira is now carving out her own space in the history books with a massive achievement ahead of her upcoming world tour.

The 47-year-old Colombian superstar has officially surpassed Swift’s record by becoming the first female artist to sell out five consecutive shows at Estadio GNP Seguros in Mexico City. This stadium feat tops Swift’s previous record of four consecutive sold-out shows at the same venue during her Eras Tour. Shakira’s remarkable achievement underscores the incredible demand for her concerts as she prepares for her Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour, named after her recent album.

Shakira took to social media to celebrate her milestone, exclaiming, “Mexico dear, five dates at the Estadio GNP. We broke the record!” Originally planning four shows at the venue, she added the fifth due to the overwhelming demand from her passionate fanbase. Estadio GNP Seguros, Mexico City’s second-largest stadium, holds an impressive 65,000 people, making the achievement even more notable.

This intense ticket demand also prompted Shakira to shift her North American tour leg from arenas to larger stadiums, allowing more fans to attend. She shared the news with her followers via Instagram Stories, explaining the need for bigger venues in the U.S. and announcing that the North American dates will be postponed until May 2025 to accommodate the changes.

While some fans were initially disappointed by the delay, the move to stadiums ensures that many more will now have the opportunity to see the iconic performer live. This record-breaking success stands in contrast to other major artists like Jennifer Lopez and The Black Keys, who have faced challenges in selling out their tours recently.

In addition to her live performances, Shakira is also making waves with her music. Last week, she released the video for her latest single, Soltera, which has already racked up an astounding 26 million views. This momentum highlights Shakira’s lasting influence in the music industry, especially following the release of her Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran

album in March. The album has been a massive success, particularly in the U.S., where it topped Billboard’s Latin Pop Albums and Top Latin Albums charts. It also peaked at No. 13 on the Billboard 200, earning 7x Platinum certification for over 420,000 album-equivalent units, according to the RIAA.

Shakira’s world tour will officially begin on February 11, 2025, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. After stops across Latin America, including Peru, Colombia, Chile, Argentina, and Mexico, the tour will head to the U.S. in May, with the first American date set for May 13 in Charlotte, North Carolina.

This record-breaking achievement not only highlights Shakira’s global appeal but also sets the stage for what promises to be one of the biggest world tours of the year.
