Sean Kingston was arrested in California after police raided his Florida home earlier the same day, authorities confirmed Thursday.

Singer Sean Kingston, known for his hit “Beautiful Girls,” was arrested in California on Thursday after authorities raided his Florida home earlier the same day. The 34-year-old artist, whose real name is Kisean Paul Anderson, was apprehended near Fort Irwin, an Army base approximately 150 miles northeast of Los Angeles. The Broward County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the arrest to Page Six, stating that Kingston faced numerous fraud and theft charges.

Kingston will be booked into a San Bernardino, California jail, according to public information officers. His representatives have not yet responded to requests for comment following the arrest.

The dramatic turn of events began with a raid on Kingston’s 14,000-square-foot mansion in Southwest Ranches, South Florida. The operation was carried out by Dania Beach District detectives, the Strategic Investigations Unit, and a SWAT team. While Sean Kingston was not present during the raid, his 61-year-old mother, Janice Turner, was taken into custody on similar fraud and theft charges.

In response to the raid and subsequent arrests, Kingston took to social media to address his fans. “People love negative energy!” he wrote on his Instagram Story. “I am good and so is my mother! … my lawyers are handling everything as we speak.”

The arrest is linked to Kingston’s ongoing legal battle with Ver Ver Entertainment, a company that sued him in February for unpaid fees related to the sale and installation of a 232-inch television. According to Dennis Card, an attorney for Ver Ver Entertainment, Sean Kingston has been engaging in fraudulent activities. “He basically has a sales pitch that he goes through to defraud people,” Card told Local 10 News. “He induces them into giving him really expensive things. … This is an organized, systematic fraud.”

Authorities from the Broward County Sheriff’s Office initiated the investigation in Dania Beach, Florida, which eventually led them to Kingston’s residence. The investigation, shrouded in some secrecy, culminated in Thursday’s high-profile raid and arrests.

This legal trouble adds to a growing list of challenges for Kingston. His arrest highlights ongoing issues within his personal and professional life, casting a shadow over his career. The involvement of his mother in the charges further complicates the situation, suggesting a more intricate web of alleged criminal activity.

As the legal proceedings unfold, Kingston’s public statements suggest he is relying heavily on his legal team to navigate the charges. His assurances on social media that he and his mother are fine indicate his intent to maintain a semblance of normalcy despite the serious accusations.

The music industry and fans alike are watching closely as the case develops, awaiting further details on the charges and Kingston’s defense strategy. The outcome of this legal battle could have significant implications for the singer’s future in the entertainment world.
