Rihanna talked about the significance of representing her Black womanhood at the Super Bowl Halftime show held on Sunday. Moreover, she spoke about uplifting her Caribbean culture.

Rihanna shares her thoughts on representing Black women everywhere

Rihanna sat down with Apple Music on 9th February Thursday to discuss her return to the stage for the first live show in seven years. 

Moreover, the press conference comes three days before the Super Bowl Halftime show. 

The Barbadian singer also addressed the significance of representing her Caribbean roots and Black women during her upcoming performance.  

She said, ‘That’s a big part of why it’s important for me to do this show.’

Additionally, she mentioned, ‘Representing for immigrants, representing for my country, Barbados, representing for Black women everywhere. That’s key for people to see the possibilities and I’m honored to be here.’

Meanwhile, both Apple Music and Rihanna took to their social media to share promotional visuals before her Super Bowl Halftime show.

The post reflected on the 34-year-old singer’s Bajan heritage as well as her historic journey from being an island girl to the youngest self-made female billionaire in the world.

Rihanna explained in the outro, ‘My whole life was shaped on this very road. I was just a little girl flying kites in the cemetery. But I had big dreams.’ 

Rihanna revealed that there are 39 versions of her Super Bowl Halftime show setlist

During her recent interview, Rihanna opened up about her upcoming performance without revealing any details about what to expect in the show.

In addition, she stated that there were initially ’39 versions’ of her thirteen-minute set.

She noted, ‘The setlist was the biggest challenge. That was the hardest, hardest part, deciding how to maximize 13 minutes but also celebrate.’

Rihanna continued, ‘That’s what this show is going to be. It’s going to be a celebration of my catalog in the best way we could have put it together.’

Subsequently, the Diamonds songstress added, ‘Some songs we had to lose because of that, and that’s going to be okay, but I think we did a pretty good job of narrowing it down. There are probably about 39 versions of the setlist right now.’

Besides that, she shared that she took charge to fix even the tiniest tweaks so that her forthcoming performance would be perfect.

She went ahead to also vaguely touch on her current approach to producing new music. Although she did not clarify whether fans should expect her new album anytime soon.
