Richard Houston was a graduate of Sam Houston State University. Houston was a skilled officer whose age has been given 21 years old when declared dead in the hospital. Richard Houston cause of Death
According to the Mesquite Police Department, Richard Houston, a Mesquite police officer has been shot outside the grocery store parking lot. This incident took place on Friday, December 3, 2021. The officer was lethally wounded and led to death.
As per Mesquite Police Chief, David Gill, the officer was being treated at Baylor Scott and White Center. These are located in Dallas. Stephen Biggs, the Mesquite police capt. stated, the firing took place around 01:40 p.m. The incident had taken place in the parking lot of an Alberton’s grocery store. The store is located in the 1500 block of South Beltline Road. Richard Houston along with other officers was dispatched from the Department after receiving a disturbance call in the South Beltline.
The officer and a male suspect were shot in an altercation during the investigation of the case. The suspect got hit one time whereas the officer was shot two times. As a result, the officer is no longer alive. The suspect with a gunshot injury is in a critical condition and the identity is still not clear.
This tragic incident separated a loving father from his children and a husband from his wife. Also, the Mesquite police department lost a brave officer. The Police Chief, Gills gave his condolences to the family and strength to bear the pain. He also added, “Houston was a good friend and a great police officer. Recall him and his family in the prayers.”
The Texas Governor Greg Abbott. gave a statement, explained as: ” This tragic tragedy is a reminder of the risk taken by the law enforcement officers by putting their lives every day at risk to serve and protect the community.” The sad demise of a police officer depicts a senseless act of violence that separated him from his family.
