Marjorie Taylor Greene was recently slammed by one of the descendants of General Robert E. Lee over her tweet on ‘national divorce.’

Here is everything you need to know.

Robert E. Lee criticizes Marjorie Taylor Greene for her ‘National Divorce’ tweet

Reverend Robert W. Lee IV, a collateral descendant of Confederate General Robert E. Lee recently talked to TMZ about Marjorie Taylor Greene’s recent controversial tweet.

Moreover, he claimed that Greene is acting no better than the Confederates who were against the Union at the time of the Civil War.

If you didn’t know, Greene took to Twitter on Monday to call for the US to have a ‘national divorce.’ She advocated for the separation of the red and blue states.

Lee admits that while his ancestor, General Lee, will agree with Greene’s suggestion, it is no reason enough to celebrate.

Furthermore, he claims that the 48-year-old Congresswoman is instead revealing herself to be a traitor.

Besides that, Lee mentioned that more politicians should come forward to condemn Greene’s statement.

For the unversed, Lee has previously denounced racism and white supremacy at the MTV VMAs in 2017. He has further talked about his idea to take down the statues of General Lee.

Meanwhile, Lee also said that he sees a bunch of similarities between General Lee and Greene. Hence, her ‘national divorce’ message is bad for the US even those who support her idea.

Liz Cheney slams Marjorie Taylor Greene’s call for a ‘national divorce’

Former Rep. Liz Cheney, R-Wyo., wrote a tweet to condemn Marjorie Taylor Greene’s idea to split the liberal and conservative states.

She wrote, ‘Our country is governed by the Constitution. You swore an oath to support and defend the Constitution.’

Cheney continued, ‘Secession is unconstitutional. No member of Congress should advocate secession, Marjorie.’

Additionally, Cheney’s tweet comes just hours after Greene shared her controversial message.

Her statement read, ‘We need a national divorce. We need to separate by red states and blue states and shrink the federal government.’

In addition, she wrote, ‘Everyone I talk to says this. From the sick and disgusting woke culture issues shoved down our throats to the Democrat’s traitorous America Last policies, we are done.’

Meanwhile, Greene is an ally of former US President Donald Trump who was in favor of the attack on the Capitol on 6th January 2021.

The Georgia native previously suggested the idea for a ‘national divorce’ back in 2021.
