Eminem has filed a trademark objection against Robyn Dixon and Gizelle Bryant. However, is it enough of a comparison for the ‘Rap God’ to intervene? Slim Shady, aka Eminem, has continually made headlines since bursting onto the scene in the late 1990s. Recent beef and diss recordings have frequently been linked to this. A new feud appears to be brewing between the rapper and some ‘Real Housewives’, concerning whether their podcast ‘Relatively Shady’ violates his trademark. There is a rumour that they registered a trademark for ‘Relatively Shady’, despite the fact that their podcast is called ‘Reasonably Shady’. The Detroit rapper already owns the trademark for “Slim Shady” and is suing to stop the Housewives from using it. The ‘Reasonably Shady’ relationship advice podcast is also hosted by Gizelle Bryant and Robyn Dixon, which was registered as a trademark in February 2022.

It is also common for trademark infringement claims to be based on the likelihood that a consumer will confuse two brands. A consumer will be confused by the moniker ‘Reasonably Shady’, Marshall Mathers claims in his objection request. Robyn Dixon and Gizelle Bryant filed a trademark application for the phrase ‘Relatively Shady’ in February 2022. Many people know the word as the title of Gizelle and Robyn’s relationship counselling podcast, but the application sought federal protection for a wide range of items, including paddle boards, water bottles, clothes, candles, and makeup. Eminem filed a trademark objection against the two reality stars only in February 2023 after they requested registration of the phrase ‘Relatively Shady’ months before their debut podcast episode.

Eminem Believes That The Real Housewives of Potomac Stars Gizelle Bryant And Robyn Dixon’s Podcast Will Damage His Brand

The rapper Eminem opposed the Real Housewives of Potomac’s Gizelle Bryant and Robyn Dixon’s application for a trademark for the name of their podcast, Reasonably Shady. As per legal documents obtained by Page Six, Marshall Mathers [Eminem] believes that his brand will be “damaged” if the RHOP cast members get the trademarks they requested. ‘Reasonably Shady’ could also cause confusion in the minds of consumers,’ who have known him under the monikers Slim Shady and Shady since the late 1990s. Since 1998, the 8 Mile actor has exclusively used the names “Slim Shady” and “Shady” for entertainment services and owns the trademark for ‘Shady’. The phrase “Relatively Shady” was trademarked by Gizelle Bryant and Robyn Dixon in February 2022. The word has been used in the name of Gizelle and Robyn’s podcast on relationship counselling, which is protected by federal law for a variety of items. Among them are paddle boards, water bottles, clothing, candles, and makeup.

Despite requesting trademark registration months in advance, Eminem filed an objection only in February 2023 against the two reality stars. In addition, trademark infringement claims are frequently based on the possibility that a consumer may mistake two brands. In his objection request, Marshall Mathers contends that consumers will be confused by the moniker ‘Reasonably Shady.’ Resistance appears to be motivated by similarities between “Relatively Shady” and “Slim Shady,” two trademarks registered by Eminem, the real name Marshall Mathers III. Are these parallels sufficient to justify opposition? The answer can be a little hazy. In less than two years, the women celebrated the show’s 5 million downloads. In response to Eminem’s criticism, the Housewives Gizelle Bryant and Robyn Dixon have not responded publicly.
