Following criticism over her look at the 2023 Grammys, Madonna showed off her latest snapshot and sense of humour. On Monday (Feb. 20), In a new photo, Madonna stares down at the camera. Despite wearing ripped jeans, a jacket, and a black cap reading “SPIRITUALLY HUNGRY,” the pop icon is dressed casually in the picture. Her hair is styled in braids. Now that the swelling from surgery has subsided, I look so cute. Madonna tweeted about her face with an emoji of crying and laughing. The singer introduced Sam Smith and Kim Petras to perform their Grammy-winning “Unholy” at the Grammys earlier this month. It seemed her appearance overshadowed her speech after the telecast, as people on social media remarked about how different she looked in 2023, accusing her of botched plastic surgery.

After fans commented on how different her face looked during her quick appearance, she quickly became a trending topic. Madonna responded to critics two days later with an Instagram post. According to the pop icon, she is once again caught in the glare of ageism and misogyny in modern society. In her view, the world doesn’t celebrate women beyond the age of 45, and it will punish her if she continues to work hard, be ambitious and be strong-willed. While Madonna has never publicly confirmed or denied allegations that she has undergone plastic surgery, she said in 2012 that she is not opposed to plastic surgery, but she is absolutely against having to talk about it.

Despite fans’ confusion over her appearance at the 2023 Grammys, Madonna is showing off how “cute” she looks. Now that my swelling has gone down from surgery, look how cute I am. Her tweet was accompanied by a photo of her smiling for the camera while sitting in a chair. During the photo shoot, the “Like a Virgin” singer was wearing distressed blue jeans with sheer tights, a black jacket and a black cap with the words, Spiritually Hungry. She made the quip weeks after introducing Kim Petras – the first trans woman to perform at the Grammys and win a Grammy – and Sam Smith for their performance of Unholy at the Grammys. She became a trending topic after fans commented on how different her face looked during her brief appearance. One person tweeted, #GRAMMYs the fact that Madonna has a new face is a bit hard for me to ignore, while another user wrote, Did you see Madonna at the Grammys? WTF HAPPENED TO HER FACE? It looked like she was a monster. I was shocked.

The day after the Grammys, Madonna slammed people who focused on her looks rather than on the speech she gave before the historic performance. Rather than focusing on what I said in my speech, which was about giving thanks to artists like Sam and Kim, many people chose to discuss the close-up photos that were taken by a press photographer using a long lens and distort anyone’s face! This is what she captioned a video on Instagram on Feb. 7. She then stated that she was once again caught in the glare of ageism and misogyny that permeates society today. It’s not a world that celebrates women beyond the age of 45 and it will punish her if she continues to be strong-willed, hardworking, and adventurous. The seven-time Grammy winner continued, I have never apologized for any of the creative decisions I have made or for how I dress or look. While Madonna has never publicly denied or confirmed rumours that she has undergone surgery, she said in 2012 that she is “absolutely against having to discuss plastic surgery.
