Psychologist Dr. Dawn Hughes was asked about the ‘until death’ knife

Johnny Depp sued Amber Heard for defamation over the abuse claims she made in The Washington Post back in 2018.

During the trial, the knife issue was raised by Depp’s lawyer, Wayne Dennison.

The knife was inscribed with the Spanish phrase ‘hasta la muerte’ which translates to ‘until death’ in English.

Dennison asked Dr. Hughes why someone who is ‘afraid for her life’ would give such a knife to their partner. The psychologist responded by saying that there is ‘context’.

Furthermore, Heard’s attorney Elaine Bredehoft asked Dr. Hughes to reveal the ‘context’.

She explained the reason saying that the knife had a turquoise end. She further clarified that Heard purchased the knife for Depp when he was shooting for The Lone Ranger and was in a turquoise phase.

Dr. Hughes further mentioned that these words were used by Depp when he refused the prenuptial agreement and allegedly said, ‘the only way out of the relationship is death.’

She called Depp’s statement to be a ‘clinical cause of concern.’
