Significance of Patriots’ Day
Initially, in the year 1894, the Massachusetts Gov. Fredrick Greenhalge got the Patriots’ Day to be a celebration on the 19th of April. It was to commemorate the Battles of Lexington and Concord of 1775. That led to the Revolutionary War of America.
Maine too celebrated it as a holiday till 1969 on the 19th. After which the holiday got to be arriving on the third Monday of every April. Which gave a three-day weekend that week. Not to miss, Boston celebrates this day along with a marathon and a parade. Including an early game at Fenway Park to commemorate the 2013 bombing at Boston Marathon that killed three people in it.
