Offset Opens Up: Blames Cheating on Cardi B on Miscommunication and Lean Use at the Time

Offset has revealed why he cheated on Cardi B after they married. Offset spoke on Way Up With Angela Yee on Monday (July 31), where he discussed infidelity, Takeoff’s death, and his new album. During the 45-minute conversation, the rapper’s father revealed why he allegedly cheated on Cardi B at the beginning of their marriage. “I was in something else when I did that,” Offset stated around the 18-minute mark in the interview below. “I was young and had recently married. I’m going to be incredibly wealthy. Genuine communication. We married, & our interaction was fine, but I wasn’t truly saying what I wanted and needed, and vice versa. If you don’t communicate, you’ll run into problems. We’re both in the spotlight.
Our entire operation is always open to the public. That was the extent of the communication. “This was in my early twenties.” Offset continued, “I was on different shit.”. “I was also on lean at the time. I was making poor judgements without realizing how they were harming my family. I was only concerned about my own.” “Then when I get past that,” Offset continued. “Why does she love me as much as she does?” My development. I’ve already demonstrated. I’m the real deal. I’m not going to continue playing with you since it’s hurting you. It breaks my heart. It’s incorrect.” Cardi B and Offset divorced in 2018 after a year of marriage after Offset allegedly strayed on the “Be Careful” rapper. Of course, they finally fixed things up.
Cardi B’s Cheating Was The Result Of Miscommunication And Incorrect Use Of Lean At The Time, According To Offset
Offset has admitted to cheating. The Migos rapper discussed his previous marriage blunders in a 45-minute interview with Way Up With Angela Yee. Angela Yee questioned Offset about the reason behind men cheating at the 18-minute mark above. I cannot speak for men’s reasons for cheating, but I was in a different place when I did it,” he recalled. “I was young, married, and earning a lot of money at the time.” It was all about communication. There was a time when we were married, and then we weren’t really – we had decent communication, but I wasn’t expressing my wants or needs. When you’re not communicating, you sometimes feel like you’re going to run into someone. We’re both in the spotlight, and everything we do is open to the public.” He stated to Yee that his mental state at the time had a huge impact on his family, saying, “The communication, what it was, I was young, I was on different shit.” I was also on lean and crap… I was making stupid judgements without realizing how they affected my family, rather than thinking I was on my own.”
Offset had to show Cardi B that he’s an entirely different man who has matured and has no plans of continuing to mess with her heart. “It’s devastating and wrong,” he recalls thinking, “because it’s impacting [her].” Cardi B filed for divorce in 2020, as claims of Offset’s betrayal began to surface. Finally, the celebrity couple resolved their differences. He also told Yee on Way Up that Cardi did not cheat on him, and that his Instagram post implying differently stemmed from a time when the two were giving each other shit and he was drinking. The explanation (below) becomes unclear, but it’s apparent he wasn’t accusing her of cheating. As the interview progressed, the “Jealousy” MC discussed his current journey of mourning the passing of his bandmate Takeoff. “I’m not healed up, I’m being truthful, do you know what I mean?” he said around 44:00. “I had to say goodbye to my brother.” I’m not well, I’m not healed… People think it’s fine because we’re stars, but I’m a real adult man, and I cry every day about this stuff, bro. Every day, it messes me up at some point.”
