Norm Macdonald, a Canadian comedian and “Saturday Night Live” icon, died on Tuesday after a long battle with cancer. After a couple of years of struggling with illness. Macdonald, who was famous for his comedic timing, passed away at the age of 61. Before joining the cast of “Saturday Night Live,” the comedy superstar began his spectacular writing career on “Roseanne” in 1992.
Norm MacDonald’s long-time production companion Lori Jo Hoekstra expressed her sorrow at his passing, noting that Macdonald don’t ever intend his condition to affect his audiences. “He was particularly confident of his comedic abilities. Moreover, he didn’t want his condition to impact how the public or his family and friends perceived him. How did the Norm Macdonald die?
Norm MacDonald, well known for his impersonations of Hollywood heavyweights like Burt Reynolds, Clint Eastwood, and many others had been battling illness for over a decade. He’d been diagnosing with the condition 9 years before and had decided to keep it a secret from himself and just a few close pals. The news of Norm MacDonald’s diagnosis of cancer was never officially available to the public. Following Norm MacDonald’s demise, his executive team announced on Tuesday that perhaps the comedian-actor died of the illness.
On Tuesday, fans, and friends of artists paid further tribute to Macdonald on social networks.
Conan O’Brien wrote, “I am extremely sad over Norm Macdonald. “Norm had some of the most distinctive comic voice I’d ever heard, and he was always and indeed unabashedly amusing. I’ll probably never laugh as hard as that before. Honestly, I’m very unhappy for everyone.”
