Nicki Minaj has stated that the scheduled release of her long-awaited fifth studio album, Pink Friday 2, has been delayed. The project was supposed to be released on October 20, but it was pushed back to November 17. Fans were alarmed, however, because Nicki Minaj’s mentor Lil Wayne also revealed a collaborative album alongside 2 Chainz, Welcome 2 ColleGrove, for launch on the same day. On the evening of Tuesday (October 24), the Grammy Award winner went live on Instagram to talk about the controversy. The release date was stealthily moved back prior to Lil Wayne acknowledging his release, according to Nicki Minaj.
Pink Friday 2 is the follow-up to her 2018 album Queen, which peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 as well as featured songs such as “Chun-Li,” “Bed,” & “Barbie Dreams.” In the meantime, Nicki Minaj has scheduled a Pink Friday 2 tour for next year. The album will be released on December 8th via Republic Records & is currently available for pre-order. Minaj also served as the MC for this year’s MTV Video Music Awards, and she also performed her latest single, “Last Time I Saw You,” which will be featured on Pink Friday 2. The rapper reappeared for a second performance, this time along with a crew of other hip-hop legends. To cap off the evening, Minaj performed a homage to hip-hop’s 50th anniversary alongside Lil Wayne, LL Cool J, Doug E. Fresh, Darryl “D.M.C.” McDaniels, & Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five.

After Disclosing The Title Of Her Next LP In June, Nicki Minaj has delayed the release of Pink Friday 2 even more. The rapper went live on Instagram on Tuesday to reveal that her new album will now be released on December 8, her 41st birthday. I am extremely proud of this body of work, and I’m happy to announce that I will be releasing the album on my birthday,” Minaj said in a statement. “I am extremely pleased to announce that Pink Friday 2 will be out on my birthday.” Minaj originally planned to release the album on October 20, but eventually pushed the release date to November 17.
