Naomi Judd ‘left out’ her daughters Wynonna and Ashley out of her will

Late country singer Naomi Judd excluded her daughters, Ashley Judd and Wynonna Judd, in her final will and testament.

Naomi Judd left her daughters out of her will

Naomi Judd took her life from a self-inflicted gunshot wound at her residence in Leiper’s Fork, Tennessee in April 2022. She died at the age of 76.

According to court documents, Naomi has named her husband of 33 years, Larry Strickland, as the executor of her estate.

The documents read, ‘I nominate and appoint my spouse, Larry Strickland, as executor of my estate. In the event my spouse ceases or fails to serve, then I nominate and appoint my brother-in-law, Reginald Strickland, and Daniel Kris Wiatr as co-executors. I direct that no bond shall be required of my executor.’

She has further said in her will that Strickland will have ‘full authority and discretion’ over any property that is an asset to her estate. In addition he would not require ‘the approval of any court’ or permission from any beneficiary of the estate.

The famous country artist also stated in her will that the 76-year-old musician would be entitled to receive ‘reasonable compensation’ for his services. 

She added, that he would be paid or reimbursed for all the ‘reasonable expenses, advances, and disbursements, including attorney’s and accountant’s fees, made or incurred in the administration of my estate.’

More about Naomi Judd’s will

According to the documents, Naomi Judd had prepared her will on 20th November 2017 which is nearly five years before her death.

Naomi was supposedly ‘sound mind and disposing memory’ when she signed her will despite struggling with depression for most of her life.

According to an outlet, Wynonna is ‘upset’ because she was not included in her mother’s will. Additionally, since she was one half of the duo, The Judds, along with Naomi. Moreover, she ‘believes she was a major force behind her mother’s success.’

The Judds were the most famous mother and daughter duo in country music. They were undefeated for eight consecutive years at the three major country music awards shows.

Neither of the sisters has yet shown signs of conflict over their mother or her will. 

Moreover, Naomi’s estate value is estimated to be around 25 million dollars.

Naomi died one day before she was to be inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame alongside Wynonna. Regardless, the sisters attended the ceremony and accepted the honor on their mother’s behalf.
