YouTube sensation Jimmy ‘MrBeast’ Donaldson is poised to surpass T-Series as the platform’s most subscribed channel, but he’s wary of the battle becoming “racist.”
MrBeast is on a mission to achieve what PewDiePie couldn’t: surpassing T-Series as YouTube’s most-subscribed channel. Both channels are racing towards 300 million subscribers, with MrBeast steadily gaining ground.
While T-Series has rallied its fans to resist MrBeast’s challenge, the creator remains confident about his eventual victory. However, he’s cautious about the potential negative aspects of the competition.
In a recent interview with Jon Youshaei, MrBeast reflected on his involvement in PewDiePie’s battle against T-Series in 2018. He expressed discomfort with the nationalistic undertones and even hints of racism that emerged during that time.
“I don’t think Felix took it there, but it even got a little racist in the subwar before. So, I’m very cognisant of it, which is why I’m not leaning into it too hard,” MrBeast explained.
While MrBeast plans to discuss the subscriber race through YouTube shorts and occasional mentions, he emp hasizes that he doesn’t want the competition to devolve into an ‘India vs America’ debate.
“I just want to be the most subscribed-to channel,” he reiterated. “We gotta draw a line in the sand. I need to make it clear, I love India. I have fans in India. You guys are awesome. It has nothing to do with that.”
MrBeast emphasized that he does not support any racist behavior towards T-Series or its fans. He acknowledged the risk of some of his followers resorting to insensitive comments but stressed his commitment to maintaining respect and admiration for his Indian audience.
With MrBeast currently at 262 million YouTube subscribers, just four million shy of T-Series, his victory seems inevitable. However, he remains focused on the importance of respect and understanding throughout the competition.
