Brittany Cartwright has fiercely defended her three-year-old son, Cruz, against online critics amid her separation from Jax Taylor. The reality TV star took to Instagram on Tuesday to address the hurtful comments regarding her son’s well-being.
“You guys can reel in the drama of my life I don’t care but leave my innocent son’s name out of it!!! Don’t act like you know anything about him watching 30 mins of a show recorded last summer,” Cartwright wrote in a pointed Instagram Story message.
“I do everything I possibly can for him so how dare some of you!?” the “Valley” star continued. “ENOUGH. He is a perfect and innocent child and I will not have strangers acting like they know what’s going on in his life. Talk about me, talk about his father, I don’t care but enough is enough!!!!!!”

While Brittany Cartwright did not specify the comments she was referencing, a source told People that she is deeply hurt by the remarks about her son’s well-being. “She is highly protective over her son as any caring mother would be. Despite what she is going through personally in her marriage, her and Jax have always and continue to put their son first,” the insider explained.
The source added, “They are both incredibly attentive and loving parents and give Cruz absolutely everything he needs. He is a happy child and that’s all that really matters.”
Cartwright and Taylor welcomed Cruz in April 2021. The couple announced their separation in February on their podcast, “When Reality Hits with Jax and Brittany.” At the time, Cartwright said, “I’m taking things one day at a time. I don’t know what the future holds, but right now my focus is on being the best mom to Cruz.”
In March, Cartwright gave more insight into their split, telling TMZ, “I’ve asked him for a while to do certain things and nothing has come from that. Whenever you fight with somebody for so long, there’s only so much you can take, and you know, I deserve better, Cruz deserves better.”
The following month, she reiterated her stance, stating she needed to step away from Taylor, 44, for the sake of their son. “I think it’s honestly been better because we aren’t fighting in front of [Cruz],” she told People. “And for me, I think that’s what is most important right now. Because that’s why I had to get him out of that situation in the first place.”
Despite their split, the “Vanderpump Rules” alums have been co-parenting amicably. They attended the White House Correspondents’ Garden Brunch in Washington, D.C., together in April and celebrated their son’s birthday that same month.
Although Taylor claimed in April that he was “working” on himself to win Cartwright back, he was seen on a lunch date with model Paige Woolen last week.
Cartwright’s passionate defense of her son underscores her commitment to shielding Cruz from the public scrutiny that often accompanies life in the spotlight. As she navigates her new reality, her primary focus remains on being the best mother possible to her young son.
