Midnight Society Refutes Dr Disrespect’s Claim of Returning to Game Studio
2 min readMidnight Society has firmly denied Dr Disrespect’s recent assertion that he could eventually return to the game studio. The denial comes after the popular YouTuber, whose real name is Guy Beahm, claimed during a stream that his departure from the studio was temporary and that he would be allowed back in the future.
The controversy surrounding Dr Disrespect began in 2020 when former Twitch staff accused him of sending inappropriate direct messages to a minor. This resulted in a ban from Twitch and the loss of several high-profile partnerships. In response to the allegations, Beahm admitted to sending the messages and, as a result, stepped away from his game development studio, Midnight Society, as part of an agreement with the company.
Despite these events, Beahm continued his career as a streamer, migrating to YouTube after his Twitch ban. Over the years, he has consistently maintained that the situation was mishandled, claiming that Twitch had wrongfully banned him, although he has admitted to the original allegations. Most recently, Dr Disrespect has been awaiting a decision on his reapplication for YouTube monetization, which he submitted on September 25, 2024.
In a recent stream, Dr Disrespect responded to a fan’s question about why Midnight Society was still listed in his social media bio. He reassured viewers that he believed he would eventually be allowed to rejoin the studio, stating, “Just give it a little bit more time. We’ll be right back in it… Just give us some time. Not a problem.” His statement implied that a return to Midnight Society was imminent, despite his previous departure.
However, Midnight Society has now publicly refuted this claim. In a statement to Decrypt
As of September 30, 2024, Dr Disrespect still lists Midnight Society in his bio on X (formerly Twitter), despite the company’s clear denial of his return. With his future in the streaming and gaming industry hanging in the balance, fans continue to await further updates on his YouTube monetization status.
