Not just that, sometime later, she went viral for performing on a Beyoncé song with a blackface. Post all of that, Colleen shared a ten-minute video of her addressing the accusations indirectly by singing a song on the ukulele. That grabbed a lot of attention and got criticized by all on social media for Ballinger not being apologetic.
MatPat takes a dig at Colleen Ballinger’s controversy
The Streamy Awards 2023 was the highlight of this month as the event was back to honor the best content and its creators. However, apart from the honor given to content creators. The host of the event MatPat took a dig at the infamous content creator Colleen Ballinger too.
During a skit on stage MatPat recreated the incident of the ukulele playing by Colleen Ballinger. As a girl sat on stage playing the instrument. MatPat went on to take a dig at numerous incidents be it the rebranding of Twitter or, split drama of Twitch. He then went on at the end to take the ukulele from the girl. Though previously even MatPat had done collabs with Colleen Ballinger. He didn’t step back this time to condemn the behavior of Colleen Ballinger. During the skit at Streamy Awards 2023, Mat went on to say “But it was the tragic loss of this one thing that truly hit the creator community the hardest”.
He then went on to say “I’m sorry” to the girl playing ukulele on stage. To which the girl says “No, I’m sorry” and she goes backstage. Mat then takes a final dig at the Colleen Ballinger controversy saying “Looks like someone knows how to apologize”.
