Lucy-Bleu Knight, Stepdaughter of Slash, Left Heartbreaking Suicide Notes Before Tragic Death
3 min readLucy-Bleu Knight, the stepdaughter of Guns N’ Roses guitarist Slash, tragically left behind suicide notes before taking her own life, as confirmed by the Los Angeles Medical Examiner. The 25-year-old died on July 19, 2024, from hydrogen sulfide poisoning, with her death officially ruled a suicide.
According to a recently released report, Knight left handwritten notes for her loved ones. The report also disclosed that she had a history of undiagnosed mental illness. Her family mentioned that she had suffered from paranoia and hallucinations.
The grim details emerged from the medical examiner’s findings, which described the tragic scene. Knight was found in the bathroom of her Airbnb rental, where she had been staying for four days after checking in on July 15. The property manager became concerned when repeated attempts to contact her were unsuccessful. After encountering resistance when trying to open the front door, the manager contacted emergency services for a welfare check.
When the police arrived, they too noted resistance, describing it as a “suction” when they attempted to open the door. Upon entry, they discovered a handwritten note meant for first responders, warning of toxic gas inside the unit. Detecting a chemical odor, the officers quickly retreated and called for further assistance.
The Los Angeles Fire Department’s Hazmat team arrived shortly after and found the harrowing details of Knight’s final moments. She had mixed a lethal combination of chemicals, including cerium hydroxide, sulfuric acid, hydrochloric acid, and sodium thiosulfate, inside a cooler. Additionally, she had taken extreme measures to seal the bathroom using plastic bags and tape to block light fixtures, outlets, vents, and cracks in the windows.
The report also revealed that Knight had pills in her possession, including medications like escitalopram and paliperidone, which are commonly prescribed for mental health conditions. Despite these medications, Knight had no formal diagnosis, though she had been placed on psychiatric holds twice earlier in 2024. Her family noted that she had experienced suicidal thoughts in the past, though this was her first known suicide attempt.
Slash, whose real name is Saul Hudson, shared the devastating news of Knight’s passing in an emotional tribute. He described his stepdaughter as “an incredibly talented artist, a passionate dreamer, and a charming, lovable, sweet soul.” He also asked for privacy during this difficult time.
Knight was the daughter of Slash’s longtime partner, Meegan Hodges, and her ex-husband, Mark Knight. While Slash and Hodges first dated in the late 1980s, they rekindled their relationship in 2015. The guitarist also has two children, London and Cash, from his previous marriage to Perla Ferrar.
The tragic loss of Lucy-Bleu Knight is a heartbreaking reminder of the silent battles many people face with mental health. Slash’s tribute and the family’s request for privacy reflect their deep grief over the unimaginable loss of a beloved family member.
