Lil Tjay Shot Multiple Times In An Armed Robbery Along With Two Friends

Rapper Lil Tjay, who released his new single “Goin Up” two months ago, was shot multiple times on Wednesday night in New Jersey and was taken to the hospital for emergency surgery.

According to a statement from the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office, the 21-year-old and one of his pals, Antoine Boyd (22), were victims of an armed robbery that happened in the middle of the night at The Promenade in Edgewater. The rapper was shot several times, but only once at his companion.

The rapper, whose actual name is Tione Marriot, is out of surgery and healing, a source told TMZ. He is yet still in danger.

How did the incident happen?

The shooting occurred on Wednesday, June 22, 2022, at 12:08 a.m. in Edgewater, New Jersey, according to prosecutor Mark Musella. The Edgewater Police Department responded to a 911 destress call reporting a shooting, he added. According to the news release, “Another 22-year-old victim with a gunshot wound was discovered by officers when they went to the Exxon Station at 478 River Road in Edgewater. Both victims were taken to a nearby hospital, where they are currently receiving care.”

A red Dodge Durango with a bullet hole in the driver’s window and a blood-stained towel were also examined by Edgewater police and the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office.


Lil Tjay was shot by whom?

According to, police in New York City have detained Mohamed Konate, 27, on suspicion of attempted murder and armed robbery. The man is also allegedly responsible for shooting shots at the rapper. Additionally, they named Tjay’s companions, Jeffrey Valdez, 24, and Antoine Boyd, 22, who was also shot. Konate wound up shooting Tjay and Boyd repeatedly as a result of the process. The prosecutor’s office took to their social media to explain that at least one victim was out of danger. ” Update on #BCPONJ & @EdgewaterPolice investigation in Edgewater NJ shooting: per initial investigation, does not appear to be a random act and one victim upgraded from critical to a stable condition. Other patients in good health who had non-life-threatening injuries were admitted to the hospital.”

However, it was not explicitly stated in this later declaration if the raper was the one who was said to have sustained the more serious wounds out of the two victims.

Who is Lil Tjay?

The New York rapper has 7 million Instagram followers and two studio albums that have peaked in the top 5 on the Billboard 200. Both of his albums were published through Columbia Records. “Calling My Name,” a song he co-wrote with singer 6lack, premiered on the Billboard Hot 100 at number three. Tuesday, June 21, Tjay’s most recent Instagram story read: “You are not automatically entitled to the rewards of someone else’s labor just because you have known them. Be careful, Otchea. Envy is at an all-time high.”


One of the victims is seen being escorted out of a white security car and into an ambulance in an unreleased surveillance video from the Exxon station on River Road. The same vehicle that patrols City Place is this one. Peter Ditkas and Luigi Mancini, two graduating high school seniors, first noticed this individual, saying “He was lying on his stomach in the backseat, simply chilling. We assumed he was inebriated.”

The least charges against Konate are three counts of attempted murder and an armed robbery. However, according to authorities, Tjay’s friends Valdez and Boyd were also detained after the incident on suspicion of possessing guns, and they were both being held in Bergen County Jail.
