During an interview on Thursday, Amazon CEO Andy Jassy described Elon Musk’s $43 billion offer to buy Twitter as “quite interesting.”

“Obviously, we all use Twitter to some extent, and it’s a pretty intriguing tool and capability,” Jassy said during the CNBC Squawk Box interview. “It’ll be fascinating to see how things progress.”

“It sounds like somebody else is going to own Twitter,” Jassy remarked when asked if Amazon would ever try to buy Twitter. When asked if he thinks Elon Musk will purchase Twitter, Jassy clarified that he doesn’t know.

Musk made his bid public in a regulatory filing that he shared on Twitter. Musk made the statement after purchasing a 9.2% share in the company. He declined an offer to join the board of directors. Some speculated that Musk’s choice not to join the board would lead to a hostile acquisition of the social media business.

Elon Musk’s planned takeover of Twitter has created a schism among Twitter users

Elon disclosed his motivation for presenting the offer following his first investment in his offer. “However, since making my investment, I’ve realized that the company, in its current form, would neither prosper nor serve this societal necessity.” “Twitter should be turned into a private firm.”

The phrase “Leave Twitter” trended on Twitter just moments after Musk’s offer was made public.

The majority of tweets using the term simply asked if users would leave if Elon took over. As the enormous business move generated speculation about the platform’s future.

“Literally nothing is going to change for the vast majority of Twitter users if/when Elon Musk takes over,” one user said of the impending takeover.

“And honestly, I promise that most individuals threatening to leave now will still stay,” they continued. I’m not sure what everyone is so fired up about.”

Of course, other users expressed their displeasure with the proposed partnership. One user asked, “Seriously, why does Elon want Twitter?” You goon, just leave us alone!”

Billionaires buying up social media platforms and news organizations is nothing new. But Musk’s purchase of Twitter for more than $40 billion would be unprecedented for that sum of money.
