Fans of Lauryn Hill and the Fugees received disappointing news this week as the anticipated reunion tour, set for late summer and fall, was abruptly canceled just days before the first show. Concertgoers received refund notices on Tuesday, and the tour dates were removed from Ticketmaster.

The tour, part of The Miseducation Anniversary Tour, was supposed to kick off this month. However, many performances are now flagged as canceled on the Live Nation website, though they remain listed on Hill’s official site. A reason for the cancellation has not been disclosed, leaving fans in the dark.

Live Nation’s website simply states, “Unfortunately, the event organizer has had to cancel your event.” Refund notices sent to ticket holders also lacked an explanation. According to Variety, the tour was scheduled to start in Tampa on Friday and end the American leg at the Hollywood Bowl on September 17. Other U.S. stops included New York, New Jersey, Atlanta, Philadelphia, Dallas, Houston, and Milwaukee, totaling 18 dates. After a short break, the tour was set to resume in Europe, starting in Manchester, England, on October 12, and concluding in Amsterdam on October 22, with additional shows in London and Paris.

No official statement has been released by Hill or the Fugees, and their social media channels remain silent on the matter. This cancellation marks the third consecutive year that Hill and the Fugees have scrapped some or all of their tour dates, leading to growing frustration among their fan base.

Disappointed fans expressed their grievances online, with many noting the repeated cancellations. “At this point, I don’t blame Lauryn Hill and the Fugees. I blame y’all for buying tickets in the first place,” one fan wrote. Another suggested that the group should perform for NPR’s Tiny Desk instead.

Last November, Hill and the Fugees were midway through a tour when she announced the remaining dates for the year were postponed due to severe vocal strain. Hill had been taking prescribed prednisone to get through each show, a medication that can be harmful if used extensively. She explained that she needed time off to allow for vocal recovery and to discontinue the medication safely.

The latest cancellation has led to a flood of social media posts from disheartened fans. “It’s so disheartening being a fan of Lauryn Hill,” tweeted @PLoJetson. “Last October, an hour before the show in Dallas, it was canceled with no warning. I tried again this run even when EVERYONE clowned me saying I was foolish for trying. Canceled AGAIN. I love Lauryn man. But damn yo. DO BETTER.” Another user, @discophobe, wrote, “Bought Lauryn Hill tickets and about 15 minutes later, she canceled her tour. God is pointing and laughing at me.”

Fans who purchased tickets will receive automatic refunds once funds are received from the event organizer, as per Live Nation’s policy. Despite the cancellations, fans continue to hope for future opportunities to see Lauryn Hill and the Fugees perform live.
