Laurence Fishburne: Why is He missing from Matrix 4? What happened to old Morpheus?

Fans are highly excited and eagerly waiting for the release of The Matrix 4. After the announcement of the most anticipated series, fans are in touch with every single update about it.

Its first teaser came out on 9th September and viewers noticed everything. But the thing that surprised them is the absence of Laurence Fishburne. Does it mean that Morpheus is dead?

Well, as the fans guessed, Laurence Fishburne will not appear in The Matrix Resurrections. There are two possibilities either the actor has not been asked to revive the role of Morpheus or there will be a surprise entry.

In Laurence Fishburne’s words – “I have not been invited. Maybe that will make me write another play. I’m looking for the blessing in that. I wish them well. I hope it’s great.” Laurence said this in a recent interview with Vulture.

Whereas, in another interview with Collider, Laurence Fishburne said that he didn’t have an answer for this ‘why’. He also told me to “ask Lana Wachowski” about this.

Why is Morpheus not there in the Matrix 4?

Identifying the exact reason will be just hitting around the bush. As there can be several reasons behind the absence of Morpheus in The Matrix Resurrections. We saw that in this fourth part of The Matrix, only Neo and Trinity will be coming back.

If we look at the title of this part I.e. Resurrections then it’s clear that Neo and Trinity will be reviving. The reason being their plausible death in The Matrix Revolutions. So, we can expect that this part will revolve around the reason for their death and how they revived.

Furthermore, it is evident in the trailer that machines were working on Neo‘s body. There was huge damage to his eyes during the end of The Matrix Revolution.

Therefore, we can guess that Neo and Trinity will revive through their minds. Their bodies will be destroyed but not their minds. Hence, they will be placed in new bodies. However, if we consider the original trilogy stating that there are different versions of Matrix. Then it is also possible that a new one will take birth in the Resurrections.

Is Morpheus dead?

Though, talking about Lawrence Fishburne’s Morpheus then you should know that he is alive! Yes, Morpheus is alive in the real world that’s why he is not present in this version of the matrix. Morpheus was successful in surviving against the events of the original trilogy and the climactic battle of Zion.

However, people are confused about the role of Yahya Abdul-Mateen. There are rumors that he will be the younger Morpheus in the matrix. Yet, there is nothing clear.
