Kyle Mullen Died During Navy Seal ‘hell Week’ Training

Kyle Mullen, a 24-year-old Navy SEAL candidate died on Friday after the completion of ‘Hell Week’. The cause of his death was unknown and the investigation for the same is going on. He showed ‘symptoms’ following his brutal training at the Coronado Hospital, where he breathed his last.

Who was Kyle Mullen?

Kyle Mullen is a 24-year-old native from Manalapan, New Jersey. He is a former Navy SEAL candidate who played football for both. Yale University and Monmouth University. In 2019, he assisted the Hawks to win a conference championship at Monmouth University. Moreover, he even played basketball at the Manalapan High School. Manalapan is located 50 miles away from New York City.

The cause of his death is unknown at the moment. However, a spokesperson from the Navy reported that Kyle wasn’t actively training at the time of his death. ‘Hell Week’ is rigorous training involving 20 hours of physical training. Kyle started showing symptoms just after his training and hence, was hospitalized at the Sharp Coronado Hospital in Coronado, California. The investigation for his death is presently going on.

What is ‘Hell Week’?

Hell Week is the last phase of BUD/S training, when sailors seeking SEAL training are physically and mentally exhausted after a series of intense drills. Hell Week is grueling training that allows the SEAL candidates to continue on to the six months of SEAL training. However, more than half of the candidates fail to complete Hell Week.

The SEAL program involves 24 weeks of training in five phases, which include physical training tests, obstacle courses, extensive swimming and running, combat diving, land warfare training, as well as other tests that require a great deal of physical strength. Many candidates do not even make it past Phase 1, also known as Stage 3, and a significant number drop out.

The Navy SEALS, currently comprising 10 teams is the most well-trained force in the US military. SEAL Team 6 had killed Osama Bin Laden.
