Kim Kardashian is under hot waters with internet users for mishandling the historic dress which was once worn by Marilyn Monroe.
The 41-year-old actress wore Monroe’s dress for this year’s Met Gala event.
While the Gentlemen Prefer Blondes star donned the iconic gown in 1962. She sang Happy Birthday to then-President John F. Kennedy.

The aforementioned dress collector, Scott Fortner recently shared close-up pictures on his social media pages of Marilyn Monroe’s now ruined gown.
In the image, several crystals seem missing or are hanging by the gown. Additionally, there were few signs of tearing.
Fortner suspected that it might have occurred when Kim Kardashian was struggling to fit into the glittery gown.

He outlined the post with the caption, ‘Just in case you missed it- missing crystals, and some left hanging by a thread. Ripley’s Believe It or Not, was it worth it?’
The Skims founder is reported to drop nearly 16 pounds in only a few months to squeeze into the gown.
The Keeping Up With the Kardashians alum even changed into a duplicate gown near the entrance of the party. She mentioned that she could not move freely in the original.
Regardless, the damage was done to the dress and the sentiments of Marilyn Monroe enthusiasts.

Netizens took to Twitter to express their disapproval.
One fan tweeted, ‘Kim should’ve never worn that dress, to begin with. I mean yes it’s nice to pay homage to Marilyn but she could’ve had a new dress made and replicated. This was a timeless and iconic artifact that’s been ruined.’
Another user wrote, ‘Leave it to Kim to destroy a historical piece of art.’
A different one pointed out, ‘Congratulations to the Met Gala for showcasing a real-life example of why a conservation department like the Costume Institute is necessary for historically significant garments.’
During an interview with EW, Bob Mackie, a designer, mentioned that it was a ‘big mistake’ to permit Kardashian to wear the exemplary dress.
He claimed, ‘[Marilyn] was a goddess. A crazy goddess, but a goddess. She was just fabulous. Nobody photographs like that. And it was done for her. It was designed for her. Nobody else should be seen in that dress.’
