After testing positive for COVID-19, Kelsea Ballerini will co-host the CMT Music Awards from her home. Prior to Monday’s event, the “Legends” singer shared the news on social media. At the Nashville event, her co-host Anthony Mackie, star of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, will be joined by singer Kane Brown as in-person co-hosts. Ballerini will continue to be a co-host, although she will appear from afar. “I tested positive for COVID a couple of days ago,” Ballerini, 28, wrote on Instagram Monday morning, “and the CMT Awards are tonight.” So I’m terribly sad that I won’t be able to attend in person. “I’m heartbroken.”

Who is Kelsea Nicole?

Kelsea Nicole Ballerini is a country-pop singer and songwriter from the United States. She was born on September 12, 1993. She began writing songs as a child and in 2014 signed with Black River Entertainment, releasing her debut album The First Time the following year. Her second studio album, Unapologetically, was released in 2017. From her first two albums, Ballerini had seven songs on the Hot Country Songs and Country Airplay charts. She has four No. 1 songs on the latter, starting with her debut single “Love Me Like You Mean It,” which made her the first female artist to send a debut single to the top of the charts since Carrie Underwood in 2006.

Can Kelsea Nicole still host the award show?

Kelsea Ballerini claimed the good news is that she’s feeling “a lot better” and that she’ll be able to participate from her home. “The great CMT family and my crew have moved a piece of the CMT set to my house, to my small bubble, and set it up so that I can still host and sing,” the candidate and co-host shared. “It’s certainly not what we had anticipated, but we’re giving it our all. So I’ll see you at the awards tonight, and let’s make some lemonade out of these sour lemons together.” CMT producers “scrambled” to make things work with Ballerini electronically, according to Extra. Brown, who has the most nominations of any artist this year with four, co-hosted the fan-voted awards event alongside Ballerini last year.
