Kelly Rowland defends Chris Brown amid the booing crowd at AMAs 2022

Kelly Rowland quieted an unrest audience after Chris Brown bagged an award at the American Music Awards 2022.

Kelly Rowland comes to Chris Brown’s defense

Kelly Rowland took the stage of Microsoft Theatre in Los Angeles on 20th November for this year’s AMAs. 

Moreover, she was on hosting duties and was tasked to present the Favorite Male R&B Artist award. 

Brent Faiyaz, Giveon, Lucky Daye, and The Weeknd were nominated but were fended off by Chris Brown who went on to win the award.

However, after Rowland announced the result, audible booing voices can be heard from the audience as the camera panned toward them. 

Meanwhile, the Destiny’s Child member seemingly appeared to be shocked by the crowd’s reaction but went along with her presenting duties.

Rowland noted that since Brown is not present she would accept the win on his behalf. 

She said, ‘Now Chris Brown is not here tonight so I’m accepting this aw ard on his behalf,’

However, the fans continued to boo Brown which prompted Rowland to stop her speech midway and address the situation.

She fired back by holding a finger at the crowd as she mentioned,  ‘Excuse me… chill out.’

Nevertheless, she continued with, ‘But I wanted to tell Chris, thank you so much for making great R&B music and I want to tell him to thank you for being an incredible performer. I’ll take this award — bring it to you. I love you. Congratulations. And congratulations to all the nominees in this category.’

Chris Brown’s appearance at the AMAs was allegedly canceled

According to reports, Chris Brown was slated to perform at the American Music Awards this year. However, his performance was canceled at the last minute for an unknown reason.

Additionally, Brown was supposed to pay a special tribute to Michael Jackson at the event.

He took to Twitter to call out to the AMAs for the action.

The Under The Influence singer pointed out, ‘WOULD’VE been the ama performance but they canceled me for reasons unknown.’

Besides that, he shared a clip of what appears to be the rehearsal of his supposed performance at the AMAs.

In the 7-minute-long clip, the 33-year-old is seen practicing a choreographed routine alongside several professional dancers. He initially dances on his latest single, ‘Under The Influence’ but suddenly it shifts to a medley of King Of Pop’s hit songs including Thriller and Beat It.
