JoJo Siwa has found herself at the center of a social media storm after being accused of plagiarizing a design from the rock band Tool. The controversy erupted on Reddit, where fans noted striking similarities between Siwa’s new merchandise and Tool’s iconic wrench logo. The former child star has not yet responded to the allegations.

The drama began when JoJo Siwa showcased a construction worker vest and T-shirt featuring a wrench design on TikTok

. The wrench in question bears a close resemblance to the one seen on Tool’s 1991 demo EP, “72826.” The main differences are slight: the top head of Siwa’s wrench is angled to the right, “JOJO” replaces the “TOOL” text on the handle, and the bottom heads have a different inner profile.

JoJo Siwa’s merch is tied to her new EP, “Guilty Pleasure,” which was released on July 12th. A teaser for the title track’s music video shows a construction theme, complementing the controversial merch.

Fans were quick to point out the similarities between Siwa’s design and Tool’s, accusing her of copying the band’s logo in an attempt to rebrand her image. Reactions online were mixed, with some finding humor in the situation and others expressing outright anger. Comments ranged from sarcastic suggestions for Tool to retaliate by selling giant bows, to calls for legal action against Siwa.

Tool fans are particularly sensitive about their logo, designed by Cam De Leon, who had his own legal battles with the band over compensation for his work. De Leon sued Tool in 2005, claiming he was not properly compensated for the continued use of his design. The case was settled in 2015 in Tool’s favor, but not without causing significant stress for the band.

This is not the first time JoJo Siwa has faced accusations of copying. In April, she was criticized for wearing makeup resembling the iconic look of KISS at the iHeart Radio Music Awards. Gene Simmons, KISS’s frontman, defended her, calling her outfit “cool,” despite the backlash from fans.

The current controversy has sparked a flurry of online debate about originality and intellectual property. Some users noted that Siwa has a history of using other artists’ ideas without proper credit. Whether Tool will take legal action remains to be seen, but the situation has certainly captured the attention of both fanbases.

As the story unfolds, fans of JoJo Siwa can still enjoy her “Guilty Pleasure” EP, while Tool’s loyal followers await any potential legal developments. The merchandise featuring the disputed wrench design has not yet been made available for purchase, adding another layer of intrigue to the unfolding drama.

In the midst of all this, the debate over intellectual property rights and artistic originality continues, reminding us of the fine line between inspiration and imitation.
