Jimmy Kimmel provoked himself in hot water after commenting about Olivia Rodrigo’s latest appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live. Although the interview began with a lovely moment that Rodrigo shared with Kimmel’s kids on their way to school, it ended on an unpleasant note. Kimmel displayed the artwork for Rodrigo’s new album Guts, which featured a close-up photograph of her mouth. “You’ve got your mouth and a little chip of your tooth there, too,” the late-night host added, pointing to one of her teeth. “You’re not perfect after all!” he laughed. Kimmel’s casual remarks appeared to surprise fans on social media.

“Why would he even think of saying that?” One person contemplated, while another commented it was a particularly strange statement given Rodrigo’s past lyrics about insecurity. “Why did he decide to draw attention to a tiny ridge on her tooth when she has so many songs about beauty standards & feeling flawed?” one person said on X, while another noticed how Kimmel “just kept going” throughout the segment. Fortunately, the remainder of the interview went ahead without a hitch. Kimmel also claimed that he & his family are forced to listen to sanitised renditions of Rodrigo’s songs at home since his little son enjoys singing along.

Jimmy Kimmel Is Being Chastised For Commenting About Olivia Rodrigo’s Appearance

Olivia Rodrigo has been involved in the music industry for two years, but she has already made it plain that she has a lot of insecurities. Despite her enormous popularity, Olivia made it a point to remind audiences that she is just a typical teenage girl when she debuted her debut album, Sour – the first line of the album’s opening song, “Brutal,” is, “I’m so insecure that I believe I’ll die before I drink.”She expands on this theme in the song “Jealousy, Jealousy,” in which she admits to being strongly impacted by photos of “girls too good to be true” on social media and compares her attributes to their “paper-white teeth & perfect bodies.” Many people felt offended by Jimmy Kimmel’s remarks during Olivia’s appearance on his show earlier this week. On Tuesday, the 20-year-old Grammy winner appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live to talk about her sophomore album, GUTS. As he pulled out a vinyl record of the album, the 55-year-old emphasised the back cover, which depicts a close-up picture of Olivia’s mouth as she grabs her face & screams. “You have your mouth as well as a little chip of your tooth there,” Jimmy observed, before stating, “You are not perfect after all!” Then, he asked Olivia how the chip got there, and she admitted she didn’t know it was there.

“So new insecurity unlocked, thanks a lot!” she said with a smile. Despite the Traitor artist’s obvious eagerness to play along with the quip, several Livies proceeded to social media to criticise Jimmy for bringing it up, especially in light of Olivia’s comments about her physical anxieties in the GUTS song Pretty Isn’t Pretty. Followers of Olivia Rodrigo have flocked to her defence after late-night comedian Jimmy Kimmel used a physical defect to make the joke that she was “not perfect” throughout her latest appearance on his show. “see that it barely makes sense as a joke because more than two of the songs revolve around her not being perfect???” a member of the audience commented. “What an odd thing to speak to a young woman… “It’s going to be one of her vulnerabilities now,” another wrote. Despite the uproar, Olivia was a good sport regarding it, and others speculated that the host was merely referring to lyrics from All American bitch in which she refers to herself as “perfect.” In an Instagram post, the Disney+ actress also shared a photo with Jimmy from the broadcast, thanking him for bringing her on the show as well as seemingly verifying that there is no bad blood after all.
