Jared Leto’s Morbius memes did not quite effectively attract netizens. According to box office numbers, viewers were not so eager to watch its reruns.

Sony recently re-released the comic book flick on the theatre screens this weekend. The movie has previously garnered a horrid total box office of $73 million after its domestic spring run.

Here is everything you need to know.

Jared Leto makes fun of Morbius

Jared Leto recently took to Twitter to share a video of himself. The actor appears to be reading a script which he attempts to hide from the camera person.

However, it later is revealed to be a script with the title ‘Morbius 2: It’s Morbin’ Time’ with Curb Your Enthusiasm theme playing in the background.

If you are not aware, the Morbius memes went viral over the internet after their disastrous release. Regardless, Leto himself joined in on the Morbius sequel bandwagon as he captioned the clip with, ‘What time is it?’.

The actor and the studio might have decided to put back Morbius to the theatres after its viral memes.

But the film failed at the box office yet again.

As per the Forbes report, the re-release Morbius managed to gross only $85 thousand on Friday. It remains unclear the total weekend gross of the film.

Jared Leto’s Morbius fails yet again

Jared Leto starring Morbius first hit the theaters back in April 2022. The film domestically grossed $73 million while it earned $163 million globally.

Regardless, the film faced disappointments from both critics as well as the box office.

Despite the negative reception, the film appeared to be a hot topic on the meme pages. Most particularly the phrase, ‘It’s Morbin time’ was a popular one on social media platforms.

Thousands of memes and jokes flooded over the For You pages of Instagram and other sites. Most of the memes were puns tied up to the unusual name of the titular character.

However, some users sarcastically praised the movie, and a few users called out the makers to launch a sequel. The memes were all over the internet which resulted in Morbius 2 trending online.

One user commented, ‘Morbius being brought back to theaters just to bomb again is one of the funniest things that’s happened in the entertainment industry in years.’

Another said, ‘The real challenge if you’re willing to put in the work, is going to be tricking them into releasing Morbius a third time.’
