Rumors about footballer Cristiano Ronaldo being subject to “99 lashes” for violating Iranian law have been denied by the Iranian Embassy. Ronaldo had visited Iran last month for a match and met with an Iranian female fan as well. However, the meeting with his female fan and his conduct with her has sparked a few rumors too.

Ronaldo also met a female fan Fatemeh Hamami who is an Iranian woman with 85 percent of her body paralyzed. Both gifted each other. Ronaldo even gave her a signed t-shirt and also clicked a pic with Fatemeh.
But the footballer was reported to have hugged and kissed her on the cheek during their meet. Which seems to have violated one of the Iranian laws. Now rumors about him say Ronaldo has been subject to “99 lashes”, a corporal punishment.

Rumors have been doing rounds on the internet claiming Ronaldo was sentenced to 99 lashes for violating Iranian law. The Iranian Embassy in Madrid has come forward to address those rumors. The Embassy denies the rumors about the footballer.
The statement on the same is read as “We strongly deny the issuance of any sentence against any international athlete in Iran”. As such we can believe the news about the punishment of Ronaldo to be merely a rumour.
