Jordan Cashmyer’s Sudden Demise
Maryland Department of Health Office of Chief Medical Examiner confirmed the news of Jordan Cashmyer’s death. Her stepmother announced the news on Jordan’s late father’s Facebook page. “Last night I received a call no parent ever wants. My oldest beloved daughter, Jordan has passed away, she was only 26 years old. Our hearts are truly broken. No parent should ever have to go through losing a child, EVER,” it read.
“Please keep my family in your thoughts prayers as we navigate through this terrible tragedy. Please understand and respect our privacy at this time. We are surrounded by the love and support of our children, granddaughter Lyla and family members. 💔Jessica Cashmyer.”
The cause of her death is, however, not known.
Jordan Cashmyer- Alum Of ‘16 And Pregnant’
In 2014, Jordan starred in the fifth season of MTV’s 16 and Pregnant. The show highlighted Jordan’s relationship with her former boyfriend, Derek Taylor. Jordan’s family did not approve of the relationship. As a result, they had broken all ties with her. Her parents were evicted from their house. The show also showcased their struggles before her daughter’s birth, which include homelessness, teenage pregnancy, and unemployment. She was on the verge of becoming homeless during the show.
Shortly after the show, Jordan gave birth to her daughter, named Evie. Post Evie’s birth, she split up with Derek, owing to financial problems. She returned to her parent’s home after their breakup. She gave temporary custody rights to Derek’s mother, soon after her birth. Reports reveal that she suffered from depression and addiction. She even tried to commit suicide and was hospitalized for the same. Moreover, she was checked into rehab several times. In addition, sources reveal that she was arrested for drug possession in 2017.
Jordan Turned Her Life Around, Before Her Death
However, reports reveal she certainly turned her life around. She started dating Keith Boyer in 2018. She gave birth to her second child last year.
In 2021, she celebrated one year of sobriety and took to Facebook to do the same.
Her daughter, Genevieve “Evie” is 7-years-old now and lives with her father.
“This is an incredibly sad day. Jordan was a sweet and caring person,” he shared. “Last we spoke she was doing well and seemed to be in a good place mentally and physically. I wish people had the opportunity to know her beyond her struggles. I was always rooting for her and am grateful I had the chance to know and work with her all these years.” He added, “Life wasn’t always kind to her so now she is able to be at peace.”
