Ty Pennington better known as the Extreme Makeover: Home Edition alum surprised us all as he took the vows with his former fiancé and now wife, Kellee Merrell in front of just eight people at the historic Savannah, Georgia.

The whole ceremony took place in a setting befitting handyman Pennington’s career: the 19th-century home they’re restoring together, which is still mid-renovation, in front of just eight guests on Saturday in Savannah, Georgia.
How Did Ty Pennington and Kellee Merrell Meet?
Pennington, who now stars in HGTV’s Ty Breaker and Battle on the Beach and has previously starred in Trading Spaces and as host of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition first met Merrell, a social media manager from Vancouver in 2010 during his shoot for a TV show in Toronto and they stayed connected ever since through mutual friends.
Their friendship only grew deeper over the years until 2020 when they finally decided to quarantine together amid the COVID-19 pandemic, during which they took their relationship to the next level.

Ty Pennington and Kellee Merrell: Engagement
After being committed for a while Ty Pennington announced on Wednesday, July 28, that he is finally engaged to his partner, Kellee Merrell. He had popped the question over morning coffee on the dock of his home in Palm Coast, Florida.
Pennington, then 56, spread the good news by sharing a snap of the couple’s hands – with Merrell, then 33, sporting a large teardrop-shaped diamond ring, via Instagram with a sweet caption saying: “It’s the ‘yes’ for me…”
The engagement got a sweet response, with comments like:
“👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 IM SO HAPPY FOR YOU MY FRIEND,” designer Genevive Gorder commented. “Cannot wait to meet her. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️.”
Designer Sabrina Soto, who teamed up with Pennington on Ty Breaker, was equally overjoyed to hear the news. “What!!?? What!?! Yeah!!!!! Omg!!!!!!!!!!!! Congratulations!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ I’m so happy for you both,” she wrote.
Celebrities like Joanie Sprague, Vern Yip, and HGTV also chimed in to congratulate the couple.
Pennington also commented on his engagement to PEOPLE exclusively saying: “I have admired Kellee from afar for years. She’s a beautiful person inside and out,” Pennington also added. “Luckily our paths finally crossed at the right time. It’s one of those things where you just feel happy being around a person. I never thought I would get married, but she changed that. Glad I waited for the one.”
