The incident unfolded in suburban Wyckoff, New Jersey, when a Honda Civic collided with a Jeep, causing the SUV to violently flip onto its side. According to eyewitness accounts and footage shared by TMZ, Russini was driving nearby and immediately rushed to the scene.
Acting quickly, she and another bystander worked together to free the trapped passengers. An eyewitness reported that the man assisted Russini by lifting her onto the overturned Jeep so she could pry the door open. From there, the duo successfully pulled the 73-year-old driver and his dog from the wreckage.

The daring rescue took place in the immediate aftermath of Russini’s abrupt resignation from The Athletic on Tuesday.
Her departure stems from a media firestorm ignited earlier this month when The New York Post’s Page Six published photos of Russini and Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel. The images captured the two at an exclusive, adults-only resort in Arizona during the NFL league meetings—two hours away from where the official events were taking place.
While The Athletic initially stood by Russini, the publication later opened an internal investigation into her journalistic practices and reporting following the public fallout.

Despite the media circus, the NFL has officially cleared Mike Vrabel of any professional wrongdoing. League spokesman Brian McCarthy confirmed to ESPN that Vrabel will not face an investigation under the NFL’s personal conduct policy, which mandates that personnel avoid actions detrimental to the league’s integrity.
