Henry Ruggs III Crash: Former LA Raiders Player About to Face Additional Charges

Henry Ruggs may have to spend several years in prison now. The Las Vegas Raiders star was drunk when he crashed his car killing a young woman. 

Details About the incident-

The accident occurred on 3 November at 3:39 am. Henry Ruggs was drunk while he was driving at a speed of 156 mph. He did try to stop the car a few seconds prior to the accident, however, his Chevrolet Corvette crashed into a Toyota-Rav-4. The Toyota belonged to 23 yr old woman-Tina Tintor who was sitting in her car with her dog Max when Ruggs’ car came crashing. It was in a matter of a few seconds that the car caught fire and killed Tina and her pet dog.

Ruggs knew that he had committed a crime but no regret could undo the incident. A video went viral where he was sitting on a curb, a few feet away from the car and crying. While his girlfriend, Rudy Washington who was present in the car with him, was screaming and crying for help. Both of them also suffered serious injuries and were taken to the hospital. The next day, he appeared in court in a wheelchair. An investigation revealed that he was not only driving at a high speed, but his blood-alcohol level was twice the legally-allowed limit. A loaded weapon was also found in his car.

Charges against Henry Ruggs III –

The charges levelled against Henry Ruggs include- felony DUI resulting in death, possession of a loaded weapon which is a misdemeanour,  drunk driving. Not to forget, felony charges were added because his girlfriend too suffered in the crash. 

However, Ruggs was released on bail after submitting $150,000 but he is still under house arrest. He is being tested for alcohol four times a day because he cannot wear his ankle monitor due to his injuries. He has surrendered his passport and is not allowed to leave Las Vegas for now. According to other conditions of the bail, he is not allowed to drive. Neither is he allowed to drink alcohol. His next court hearing is scheduled to be on November 10.

While Ruggs is receiving a lot of criticism, some have also come forward and supported him during this crucial time.

Derek Carr who is also a Raiders player said, “He needs people to love him right now. He’s probably feeling a certain type of way about himself right now. He needs to be loved. If no one else will do it, I’ll do it.” Alabama coach, Nick Saban also provided his support to Henry Ruggs. He said, “These consequences are going to probably be pretty devastating to Henry. We love him. We’re going to support him through it, but we also have a lot of compassion for the victims, and our thoughts and prayers are also with them,”
