Hans Zimmer, the Oscar-winning composer, startled spectators at London’s O2 Arena by proposing to his partner live on stage during a performance. On Thursday night, the 65-year-old invited Dina De Luca onto the platform before asking her, “Will you marry me?” He and his companion kissed and embraced as the audience cheered. Zimmer is well-known for his award-winning soundtracks for films such as The Lion King and Pirates of the Caribbean. He had been playing at the O2 Arena in Greenwich, south-east London, for the second of two scheduled gigs, where he had played songs from a variety of his famous soundtracks.

During the performance, the composer brought his girlfriend onto the stage and asked her, “Why did I bring you up here?” I was going to ask you a really crucial question. Have you secured the rear door? Is the milk in the refrigerator? Is there sorbet in the freezer? Will you wed me? Zimmer performed more songs toward the end of the night, while sitting near his now-fiancee, following his proposal that appeared to have been accepted. He addressed the audience, “I’ve got this one little number left” before performing Time from the Oscar-winning film Inception. Having been married twice, the German composer is the winner of 12 Academy Awards, including Best Score for The Lion King in 1995 and Dune in 2022.

A Recent Concert Saw Hans Zimmer Propose To His Partner Onstage

Hans Zimmer proposed to his girlfriend live on stage at London’s O2 Arena yesterday evening (June 15). This week, the Academy Award-winning composer played at the London venue on Wednesday and Thursday, performing compositions from films such as Gladiator, The Dark Knight, and Interstellar. As the night came to an end, the 65-year-old artist invited his partner, Dina De Luca, to join him on stage. “What brought you up here? He said he was going to ask you a very important question. Have you locked the back door? Is the milk in the refrigerator? Is there sorbet in the freezer? Then he proposed, asking, “Will you marry me?”? The couple hugged as the audience applauded and gave the newly engaged couple a standing ovation. Zimmer’s spokeswoman verified that he had proposed to his partner.

Following the proposal, Zimmer, who has been married twice before, informed the audience he had “this one little number left” before singing ‘Time’ from the 2010 film Inception, starring Leonardo DiCaprio. As part of the concerts, the composer was accompanied by his band and the Ukrainian Odessa Opera Orchestra & Friends. Zimmer paid special respect to the latter, saying, I think it takes enormous courage to sit here, smile at you, play flawlessly for three hours while you don’t know what’s all going on at home, what’s happening at home. He previously collaborated with the orchestra when he launched his UK tour at London’s O2 Arena in March of last year. We booked our orchestra from Ukraine, from Odessa, but Covid banned us from coming here 885 days ago, and we only got 10 members out… So simply welcome them. Before introducing the orchestra, Zimmer received a standing ovation. In other news, last October saw the release of Hans Zimmer: Hollywood Rebel, an hour-long BBC Two documentary on the composer’s life and work.
