Selena Gomez has said that she’s “a little bit big right now” and that she doesn’t care about it. The “Only Murders in the Building” actress shut down body-shamers on social media after wearing a strapless Valentino gown at the 2023 Golden Globes. During this week’s award show, the Rare Beauty founder said she was “a little bit big” because she enjoyed herself during the holidays. That’s right? ” Gomez said, looking at her little sister, Gracie Elliott Teefey, 9. The pair burst into laughter as she added, But we don’t care. A black velvet Valentino Haute Couture gown with voluminous purple sleeves and an off-the-shoulder neckline adorned the former Disney Channel star.

As she slicked her tresses back into a high ponytail, she wore diamond drop earrings from De Beers to complement her gown, which had a thigh-high split. Gomez has previously called out trolls for making remarks about her appearance. The “Wizards of Waverly Place” alum complained on TikTok in April 2022 that being skinny didn’t justify not eating her favourite foods because people would rather complain about her weight anyway. As well as her tumultuous relationship with social media over the past few years, the “Lose You to Love Me” singer even deleted the app from her phone after she was depressed by negative comments.

The Singer Selena Gomez Shuts Down Body Shamers: I Think I’m A Little Big At The Moment
Selena Gomez and her sister Gracie attended the 2023 Golden Globe Awards this week. During the event, the singer-turned-actress wore a velvet Valentino gown with a plunging neckline, a high slit down the front, and the most exaggerated purple, off-the-shoulder sleeves, for which Selena was nominated for Best Actress in a Television Series Musical or Comedy. Although many praised Gomez’s look as one of her best, others were not so complimentary. The trolls began commenting on Selena’s body after she walked the red carpet, telling her to lose weight, but she refused to be discouraged. Selena and her 9-year-old sister responded to body shamers following the award show on Instagram Live. I’m a little big now because I had an enjoyable time during the holidays, she said to Gracie. As Gracie agreed, Selena chuckled and quipped, But we don’t care.
It’s not the first time Selena Gomez has criticized her appearance. Selena Gomez said being “skinny” wasn’t worth depriving herself of her favourite foods in a TikTok video released in April, admitting that she just purchased four tacos, three egg rolls, onion rings, and a spicy chicken sandwich at Jack in the Box. Honestly, I don’t put much stock in my weight since people always b— about it. Your weight is too small, your weight is too big, your clothes don’t fit, Selena Gomez explained. In addition, the singer Selena Gomez has been open about her tumultuous relationship with social media over the years, deleting the apps from her phone in 2019 due to negative comments. According to her recent activity on Instagram and TikTok, she has since re-downloaded the apps.
