Gene Simmons’ band Kiss had to pause their recent show in Brazil after the singer fell ill during the performance. Moreover, they took a brief pause while he recovered and then went on to complete the show.

Here is everything you need to know.

Why was Gene Simmons forced to perform seated at a recent Brazil concert?

Gene Simmons’ band Kiss took the stage in Manaus, Brazil last night on 12th April. However, they had to take a break when Simmons started feeling ill during the performance.

According to reports, Simmons asked a crew member from the concert to bring a chair at one point during his performance.

In addition, he then went on to sit on the chair and continued to complete his set while sitting down.

Furthermore, the fans at the concert learned of Simmons’ condition when Paul Stanley had to pause the show to let the audience know that something was going on.

Subsequently, a fan-filmed video of the concert is going around on social media where Stanley addresses the crowd. Simmons is seen drinking water while being surrounded by crew members on the other side of the stage.

Stanley says, ‘We’re gonna have to stop. We know how much you love Gene.’

He continues, ‘He’s obviously sick, and we’re gonna have to stop to talk care of him because we love him, right? Let’s give Gene a really loud, “Gene!”‘

Meanwhile, Simmons later took to his Twitter handle to reveal what exactly happened to him during the show.

He wrote, ‘Hey everybody, thanks for the good wishes. I’m fine. Yesterday at Manaus Stadium in Brazil, experienced weakness because of dehydration.’

He added, ‘We stopped for about five minutes, I drank some water, and then all was well. Nothing serious. Tomorrow, Bogota Stadium. See you there!’

Gene Simmons has previously suffered from minor health issuesΒ

Gene Simmons tested positive for coronavirus back in August 2021. Moreover, it led Kiss to postpone a couple of their concerts.

In addition, the band issued an announcement to share that they would reschedule the event in order to take precautions.

They stated, ‘The band and crew will remain at home and isolate for the next 10 days and doctors have indicated the tour should be able to resume on September 9th at FivePoint Amphitheatre in Irvine, CA.’

Simmons on the other hand also underwent a medical procedure to remove kidney stones last year in November.

Nevertheless, Simmons’ wife Shannon-Tweed Simmons posted a picture of him at that time during his stay at the hospital.
