Dwayne Johnson was dropped as Black Adam in DC
Dwayne Johnson took to social media on Wednesday to share a shocking update about the future of Black Adam. Moreover, he confirmed that the franchise has hit a pause button as of now.
He wrote, ‘My passionate friends, I wanted to give you a long-awaited Black Adam update regarding the character’s future in the new DC Universe. James Gunn and I connected, and Black Adam will not be in their first chapter of storytelling.’
In addition, he said, ‘However, DC and Seven Bucks have agreed to continue exploring the most valuable ways Black Adam can be utilized in future DC multiverse chapters.’

Johnson further talked about his friendship with James Gunn and indicated that there is no bad blood between them regarding the decision over Black Adam’s future.
Furthermore, Johnson, also known as The Rock, acknowledged Gunn’s ‘creative lens’ for the DCU.
Besides that, the 50-year-old actor remained optimistic about the sudden change of events.
He went on to add, ‘You guys know me, and I have very thick skin – and you can always count on me to be direct with my words. These decisions made by James and DC leadership represent their vision of DCU through their creative lens.’
Meanwhile, Johnson’s announcement comes after James Gunn and Peter Safran took over DC Studios in November.
Also, the two confirmed that Henry Cavill would not reprise his role as Superman. Additionally, filmmaker Patty Jenkins stated that the third installment of Wonder Woman is currently shelved.
