CDawgVA expressed his frustration after his charity auction, which included the chance to play video games with popular Twitch streamer Pokimane, was overrun by fake bids made using stolen credit cards. The auction, held on July 15, aimed to raise funds for the Immune Deficiency Foundation, but was marred by pranksters who inflated the bids to ridiculous amounts.

The auction featured various enticing opportunities, including playing games with Pokimane, hanging out with VTuber IronMouse, and acquiring a painting by PewDiePie. These unique offerings quickly drew in a flood of bids, with the Pokimane gaming session reaching an astonishing $500,000. Both Pokimane and CDawgVA were initially skeptical of the high bids, a suspicion that soon proved to be justified.

CDawgVA soon discovered that the majority of these bids were fake, made by individuals using stolen credit cards. The revelation infuriated him, leading him to call out those responsible for abusing the charity auction platform. “Even though the $500,000 is fake, the real bidding number, from what I can gather, is still very high,” he said. “So, I’m still not sad, because it’s still a crazy amount of money that’s real.”

The Tiltify website, which hosted the auction, has since implemented verification measures for bids. Currently, ‘Isaacwhy’ is listed as the highest bidder with a legitimate offer of $30,000, though it remains unclear if this is indeed the YouTuber of the same name.

CDawgVA didn’t hold back in his criticism of the fake bidders, describing their actions as “super cringe.” He emphasized the sadness and inappropriateness of faking donations for a charitable cause. “I think there is nothing sadder you can fake in life than donating money to charity,” he lamented. According to CDawgVA, the pranksters used stolen credit cards and a variety of fake emails and addresses to deceive the auction site into accepting their bids.

“Why would you commit fraud to add a fake bid to a charity auction?” he questioned, highlighting the perplexing and disheartening nature of the situation.

The annual charity auction, a significant event aimed at supporting the Immune Deficiency Foundation, provides resources, education, and support for patients diagnosed with primary immunodeficiency. Despite the setback, the auction continues to garner genuine bids and support. In 2023, the event successfully raised $329,000 for the Immune Deficiency Foundation, along with an additional $14,000 for Make-A-Wish America.

While the fake bids have caused disruption and frustration, the charity auction remains a testament to the generosity and support of the community. The event organizers are hopeful that the true spirit of giving will prevail, ensuring that the proceeds make a meaningful impact on the lives of those in need.
