Doja Cat has deleted an Instagram post revealing the cover art for her fourth studio album, “Scarlet,” after fans pointed out that it is nearly identical to the artwork for another album released on the same day. Doja revealed the cover image for “Scarlet” on Instagram on Tuesday, and stated the project will be released on September 22. A giant scarlet spider is put on a plain white background, with a little blood drop above its fangs. People on social media, on the other hand, were quick to point out that the artwork for “Scarlet” is strikingly similar to that of an upcoming album by German metal band Chaver.

On July 29, Chaver announced their latest album, “Of Gloom,” and unveiled the artwork, which, like Doja’s, depicts a giant scarlet spider. In their tweet, Chaver also disclosed that “Of Gloom” will be released on September 22, the same day as “Scarlet.” Since then, the band has been posting frequently about the record, including sharing products with the spider design on them. Doja and Chaver both identified painter Dusty Ray as the creator of their artwork in their individual statements. Ray, who has over 413,000 Instagram followers, frequently publishes their work, much of which is horror-themed, contains animals, and is coloured in scarlet and red.

‘Says So’ Singer Doja Cat Removed An Instagram Post Promoting Her New Album ‘Scarlet’ When Fans Realised The Artwork Is Nearly Identical To The Album Cover Of A German Metal Band

Doja Cat has removed an Instagram post in which she revealed the cover art for her fourth studio album titled, “Scarlet.” Fans stated how similar it looked to the artwork for a forthcoming German metal album. Doja revealed the cover image for “Scarlet” on Instagram on Tuesday, and stated the project will be released on September 22. A giant scarlet spider is put on a plain white background, with a little blood drop above its fangs. Individuals on social media, on the other hand, were quick to point out that the artwork for “Scarlet” is strikingly similar to that of a forthcoming album by German metal band Chaver. “Why does Doja Cat’s album cover closely match a metal band’s album art they shared exactly a month prior to what she posted today and they both have the same release date yet only Doja’s Instagram has the artist displaying support in the comments,” one person wrote after posting both album covers side by side. On July 29, Chaver announced their latest album, “Of Gloom,” and unveiled the artwork, which, like Doja’s, depicts a giant scarlet spider.

In their tweet, Chaver also disclosed that “Of Gloom” will be released on September 22, the same day as “Scarlet.” Since then, the band has been posting frequently about the record, including posting merchandise with the spider design on them. Doja and Chaver both identified painter Dusty Ray as the creator of their artwork in their individual statements. According to screenshots uploaded on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, Dusty Ray, who is from Portland, Oregon, initially commented under Doja’s now-deleted message on Tuesday. Ray added, “yesss.” Ray, who has over 413,000 Instagram followers, frequently publishes their work, much of which is horror-themed, contains animals, and is coloured in scarlet and red. Doja has since deleted the statement revealing the cover art for “Scarlet” from her Instagram. However, Chaver’s statement from July 29 remains on the band’s Instagram profile, as do all of the band’s earlier posts concerning “Of Gloom” and its artwork.
