The controversial Johnny Depp vs Amber Heard defamation trial is in its final week. In the recent trial, metadata expert Bryan Neumeister was called to take a stand as a rebuttal witness.

He analyzed several photos of Heard’s that were submitted as evidence to show the alleged bruising. However, he said that he had no way of verifying them.

American actor Depp’s legal team called in digital forensics expert, Norbert “Bryan” Neumeister to testify.

Here is everything you need to know.

Who is Norbert “Bryan” Neumeister?

Bryan Neumeister is the CEO of a small digital forensics firm called USAForensic. Its offices are located in Grosse Pointe Farms, Michigan, as well as Phoenix, Arizona.

The company has dealt with more than 600 cases over the last four years. They had worked on cases from the federal level to the state. Furthermore, the counts included homicide, defamation, money laundering, and anything that consisted of extractions from either cell phone or computer.

Bryan has received nearly 80 honors and awards for his skill in videography. He also has over a dozen Emmy awards for editing, sound, and more.

The expert from Grosse Pointe Farms has about 42 years of digital industry experience. He also has filmed videos for 14,700 hours on a helicopter.

Did Amber Heard edit the photos presented in court?

Bryan Neumeister testified that he used Exchangeable Image File Format (EXIF) data analytics to determine that a couple of photographs were not shot from an iPhone but rather retrieved from an editing program.

He said, ‘In this situation, I can see the operating system says ‘Software: Photos 3.0′ instead of the system, which means the photos had to be rendered and composited together in an editing program.’

Bryan further added that all three files ‘do not match forensically’. He mentioned that several of the photos ‘had to go through some type of transformation to change sizes.’

Bryan Neumeister pointed out that there was ‘no way for any forensic expert to validate these photos’. He believes that a few of the photos were modified.

In simple terms, according to Bryan, since the photo they received was screengrabs rather than the original image shot directly from an iPhone, which means that the data was modified.

Moreover, because of it, the expert has no way of determining whether or if the photos submitted by Heard have been altered or not.

During the last week’s cross-examination, Depp’s lawyer, Camille Vasquez, accused Heard of saturating the photos to make her bruise look redder.
