Country singer Toby Keith revealed that he is fighting stomach cancer.

The music star made the shocking announcement on his social media sites on Sunday.

Toby Keith opens up about his struggles while fighting stomach cancer

Toby Keith took to his Instagram and Twitter official pages to give his fans a brief update on his health and other medical issues.

The 60-year-old, award-winning musician wrote, ‘Last fall I was diagnosed with stomach cancer. I’ve spent the last 6 months receiving chemo, radiation, and surgery. So far, so good. I need time to breathe, recover and relax.’

He continued with, ‘I am looking forward to spending this time with my family. But I will see the fans sooner than later. I can’t wait.’

Celebrities react to Toby Keith’s Instagram post

The “Red Solo Cup” crooner has received thousands of likes and supportive comments just minutes after his posts went live on the internet. A couple of celebrities also offered their support to Toby Keith.

Fellow country singer Lance Carpenter said, ‘Prayers up for ya Big Dog!’.

Musician Scott Stevens mentioned, ‘Praying for and thinking of you brother.’

John Rich commented, ‘Hang in there’ with a thumbs-up emoji.

Furthermore, the sports world also stepped in to show their love for the longtime musician. 

Legendary quarterback Troy Aikman sent a simple prayer emoji in the comments of Keith’s Instagram post.

Update on Toby Keith’s upcoming musical events

The status of Toby Keith’s scheduled performances for the remainder of the year is unclear as of yet. 

However, his website confirmed that Keith’s next performance will take place in Wheaton, Illinois on 17th June. 

Nevertheless, the Ohio State Fair announced that the artist’s concert on 28th June supposedly held in Columbus, Ohio, has been canceled.

Elaine Schock, the musician’s publicist, confirmed in an email on Sunday night that some of his tour dates will be canceled, ‘but I’m not sure how many at this point.’

Keith has been undergoing treatment for his stomach cancer since last fall. So it remains unclear whether additional shows on his tour will be rescheduled or postponed.

Recently, Keith revealed that he will perform a new concert during the Coachella Crossroads in California later this year in November 2022. However, after his announcement, it is unclear whether the gig will proceed now.

Back in 2006, Keith established a foundation to support children with cancer.
