Laverne & Shirley star Cindy Williams’ name will not be forgotten anytime soon in her hometown. According to the news, the place she grew up in is dedicating an entire day to her honor.

Cindy Williams was brought up in the Van Nuys neighborhood of Los Angeles.

Moreover, recent news is going around that the town is planning to declare 25th January, the day Williams passed away as Cindy Williams Day in the community.

In addition, a spokesperson for the sixth district of Los Angeles talked to TMZ regarding the news.

They said, ‘Our office was deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Cindy Williams, a Van Nuys treasure and Hollywood icon.’

Additionally, they added, ‘Throughout her life, Cindy served as a role model to young women in Hollywood. She showed them that through hard work and dedication, they could achieve whatever they put their minds to.’

Besides that, Williams was mostly recognized for her work in George Lucas’ film American Graffiti in 1973.

Cindy Williams dies at the age of 75

A representative of Cindy Williams’ family provided a statement to CNN confirming the news about the actress’s death.

According to the news, the statement was provided to the family spokesperson by Williams’ children Zak and Emily Hudson, and her personal assistant Liz Cranis.

Moreover, they revealed that Williams died following a brief battle with an illness.

The statement read, ‘The passing of our kind, hilarious mother, Cindy Williams, has brought us insurmountable sadness that could never truly be expressed.’

They continued, ‘Knowing and loving her has been our joy and privilege. She was one of a kind, beautiful, generous, and possessed a brilliant sense of humor and a glittering spirit that everyone loved.’

Meanwhile, actor Jason Alexander took to Twitter to pay tribute to the late actress.

He wrote, ‘I did not know Cindy Williams but boy did I adore her work. Especially the wacky joyful funny pleasure of watching her Laverne and Shirley days.’

Alexander continued, ‘I pray she had a good life and send my sympathy to those who knew and loved her.’

Besides that, many close friends and colleagues of Williams including Yvette Nicole Brown honored her by sharing posts on their respective social media handles.

If you didn’t know, Williams worked together with Brown in 1916. The latter featured in an episode of CBS’s ‘The Odd Couple.’
