Christina Applegate retired from acting amid MS battle

Christina Applegate was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis before she began filming the third and final season of ‘Dead to Me.’ In addition, she revealed that she completed her work with much difficulty.

The ‘Hall Pass’ shared in an interview with Vanity Fair, ‘None of us knew I was going to be sick and gain 40 pounds from medication and have immobility.’

Furthermore, she also opened up about her plans to not work on camera again and talked about her co-star Linda Cardellini.

She said, ‘I’m probably not going to work on-camera again, but I’m so glad that I went out with someone who is by far the greatest actress I’ve ever worked with in my entire life if not the greatest human I’ve ever known.’

Christina Applegate shares how MS has affected her life

Christina Applegate recently sat down for an interview with Vanity Fair where she gave an insight on how multiple sclerosis has impacted her everyday life.

Moreover, she revealed that she is frightened to take a shower these days in the wake of her illness.

She explained, ‘Getting in the shower is frightening. You can fall, you can slip, your legs can buckle. Especially because I have a glass shower. It’s frightening to me to get in there.’

In addition, she went on to reflect on the little chores that she took for granted before she was diagnosed with MS in 2021.

She admitted, ‘There are just certain things that people take for granted in their lives that I took for granted.’

The 51-year-old actress added, ‘Going down the stairs, carrying things — you can’t do that anymore. It f***ing sucks.’

Meanwhile, Applegate gave hints about quitting acting for health issues.

If you didn’t know, she attended the Screen Actors Guild Awards earlier this year in February with her daughter Sadie Grace.

Subsequently, she announced at the same time to the Los Angeles Times in an interview.

She shared, ‘It’s my last awards show as an actor probably, so it’s kind of a big deal.’

She explained, ‘Right now, I couldn’t imagine getting up at 5 a.m. and spending 12 to 14 hours on a set.’

Applegate continued, ‘I don’t have that in me at this moment.’
