The Have Mercy songstress, 24, shared an image of her and the Under the Influence singer Chris Brown, 33, embracing on the cover of the song for its release next Friday. 2ND PIECE. It was immediately met with backlash from fans who questioned why Bailey collaborated with someone who had been accused of violence against women several times. According to one critic, if Black women feel they must collaborate with a known abuser in order to chart, we are failing them.

Chloe Bailey gets slammed after announcing a new single with Chris Brown. A rising R&B star has failed to read the room when it comes to the abuser Chris Brown. Chlöe Bailey, who performs under the mononym Chlöe, announced the second single from her upcoming debut album In Pieces on Thursday. It is the controversial musician himself who is seen on the cover art holding Bailey in a tight embrace as they gaze seductively into one another’s eyes. There is no doubt that the collaboration – which ostensibly will be accompanied by a music video – will be steamy if not sexual. Bailey’s fans and others on Twitter weren’t happy about her cozying up to Brown. A critic tweeted that we are failing Black women in music if they have to collaborate with a known abuser to chart. In spite of the fact that his track record dates back from 2009 to 2022 and his history of violence against women doesn’t change, people defend her collaboration with him while claiming that his history of violence against women was merely a one-time event. Two women accused him of sexual assault in 2019 & 2022, with a third accusing him in 2023.
A follower described Brown with one word: disgusting. I really looked forward to the album after praying it away, but now you can just f-k off.
