On Tuesday, June 7, 2022, at 8 p.m. ET, country singer Drake Milligan and his band wowed the judges and won their approval on a thrilling edition of America’s Got Talent (AGT).
The one-hour time limit was jam-packed with exceptional talent that wowed the judges and the live audience while also living up to their moniker. The talents varied from dance, music, and comedy to animal acts aerial acts, and even artificial intelligence-assisted Simon Cowell singing on a screen.
The popular reality talent competition has been revived for the 17th season and, like previous seasons, is already well-known among fans. Simon Cowell, Howie Mandel, Sofia Vergara, and Heidi Klum, fans’ favorite AGT celebrity judges, are back on the judging panel to thrill audiences with their eccentric personalities.
Drake Milligan has left the show
Drake Milligan, 24, was born in Mansfield, Texas, and grew up listening to country music before deciding to pursue a career in music. He is well recognized for being an Elvis impersonator, but he originally wanted to be an actor. Drake Milligan made his acting debut in the 2017 CMT TV series Sun Records, playing the “King of Rock & Roll.” For the same reason, he relocated to Nashville.
The AGT competitor claimed in an interview with Sounds Like Nashville that he first encountered Elvis Presley when he was about 7 or 8 years old and felt he was “the coolest thing ever.” He then went on a quest to learn everything he could about the singer and actor, attempting to imitate him during his performances.
When he auditioned for Season 16 of American Idol after his tenure on the TV show, the AGT competitor became a household celebrity. With his singing abilities, he wowed judges Luke Bryan, Katy Perry, and Lionel Richie, earning him a trip to Hollywood. After the audition round, he quickly dropped out of the competition.
In an Instagram message, the musician explained his decision to his fans
The singer explained his choice to his followers in an Instagram post, writing: “A “Following my audition, I determined that I wasn’t quite ready for that platform yet, and that it would be a better step for me to relocate to Nashville and concentrate on my music! It was a difficult decision to make, and it had nothing to do with my audition experience.”
Drake scheduled writing sessions with Bill Anderson, Dean Dillon, Monty Criswell, Marv Green, Paul Overstreet, and Brice Long while in Nashville. On his official website, he detailed the experience of creating songs for some of his heroes, saying:
“I came to Nashville because it’s where all of my heroes are.” All of the guys who wrote and played on my favourite songs are still incredible musicians. They aim to write the best song they can every day when they get up. I wanted to take something away from every piece I wrote. It was a rite of passage for me to write with those songwriters.”
The Internet reacts to Drake Milligan
Drake Milligan, from Texas, was described as “fantastic” by one user. He should have advanced to the finals and received the golden buzzer. He’s a fantastic vocalist and entertainer.
Another person said, “Now all I want to do is go to Apple Music and see if Drake’s song is available there.” I agree with the judges that it has the potential to be a big hit.
Another remarked, “How the hell is Drake Milligan and his band not making country records right now?” He’s also played Elvis Presley in a TV show, right?
Another said that Drake Milligan could be the new Elvis of the country.
Last week, some exceptional competitors graced the audition stage on NBC’s America’s Got Talent (AGT), performing their best to advance to the next round. Magician Merchant Vera, ventriloquist Celina Monuz, and pop girl group XOMG POP were among them. Avery Dixon won the first golden buzzer of the season after wowing the judges and host Terry Crews with his story and saxophone talents.
