It appears like Afroman was not messing when he claimed that he would be running for US president in 2024. As per the news, he has officially filed documents this week to get the ball rolling.

Afroman officially files document to run for US president in 2024

According to multiple reports, Afroman has filed the paperwork for his US presidential run in the 2024 election with the Federal Elections Commission.

Moreover, the rapper could not have chosen a more appropriate week to throw his hat in the ring. It has been reported that Afroman seemingly filed the documents on 18th April which coincides with 4/20 on 20th April.

For the unversed,  the day is celebrated as a marijuana holiday by pot smokers all around the world.

Furthermore, it has been reported that the 48-year-old singer has named his presidential committee ‘Joseph Afroman Foreman for President.’ Also, it has been suggested that he is all set to run as an independent candidate. 

Afroman announces his plan to run for US president

Afroman declared his plans to campaign for the White House during his concert performance last year in December.

He announced to the Missouri crowd, ‘Can I make the biggest announcement I ever made in my life? I’m running for president in 20-20-fro! We’re gonna get legal weed everywhere.’

Furthermore, shortly after his bold announcement, Afroman took to his official Instagram handle to share a post detailing his ‘eight main priorities’ for the presidential campaign. 

Meanwhile, Afroman’s campaign manager, Jason Savage took to his Instagram to share his views on the surprising announcement.

He said, ‘We need a candidate that is truly elected by the people and for the people.’

He continued, ‘We need a man that can step up and lead with a firm hand. The people are starved for a Commander in Chief, that leads from a place of love and not hate. In these dark times, we need a leader that truly embodies the American dream.’ 

Savage added, ‘There comes a time in the course of human events when change must be affected.’

Subsequently, he mentioned, ‘That time is now. Americans are suffering, and the status quo is no longer acceptable.’

If you didn’t know, Afroman rose to fame in 2000 when he released his dozy breakout hit Because I Got High. It ended up bagging nominations for a Grammy award and features some of the truly iconic lyrics.
