Speculation surrounding the release of the Nintendo Switch 2, previously expected in 2024, now suggests a launch in 2025.

Delay Confirmation from Multiple Sources

Journalist Pedro Henrique Lutti Libbe revealed in an O X do Controle video, backed by Eurogamer and VGC, that Nintendo’s next-gen console launch has been pushed to early 2025. Sources suggest that Nintendo informed third-party companies about the delay due to insufficient first-party titles.

Since the release of the Switch in 2017, speculation about its successor has been rife. While unofficial leaks and industry analysis have provided insights, Nintendo is yet to confirm the existence of the next console.

The delay implies a continuation of Nintendo’s release pattern, echoing the Switch’s early-year launch. Meanwhile, Nintendo gears up to wrap the Switch’s lifecycle with titles like Princess Peach: Showtime!, maintaining interest despite the delay.

Official Confirmation Still Pending

Nintendo has neither confirmed the successor nor hinted at a launch window. President Shuntaro Furukawa emphasized the Switch’s importance for the upcoming fiscal year, promising a smooth transition to the next platform.

Despite its age, the Switch remains popular, with over 139 million units sold. While fans await the next console, Nintendo’s lineup includes titles like Mario vs. Donkey Kong and upcoming releases such as Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD and Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door.
