‘The Hills: New Beginnings’, co-produced by MTV Entertainment Studios and Evolution Media, is officially ending after two seasons.

MTV cancels ‘The Hills: New Beginnings’ after Season 2

The American reality show, ‘The Hills: New Beginnings’ will not be returning for the season. Sources have confirmed that MTV has canceled the revival of the upcoming season. Consequently, the reality show is officially bidding goodbye.

The show premiered in June 2019. Its final episode was aired in August 2021. New Beginnings brought about a reunion for the original cast, thereby starring Brody Jenner, Audrina PatridgeWhitney PortSpencer PrattStephanie Pratt, and Heidi Montag. The first season of the show lasted from 2006 to 2010. During season 2, Caroline D’Amore, CEO of Pizza Girl joined the cast.

There are many speculations regarding the reasons for the cancellation of the third season. Some sources have revealed that the producers wanted to bring in younger actors. However, the original cast was not in favor of the decision. Another source revealed that the original cast encountered difficulties with the revival of the show. It was not what MTV promised them, and many times it felt like a forced storyline. As a result, the casts were unwilling to play along and ultimately resulted in the cancellation of the show.

The cast also felt that they didn’t have the same feeling in their second season as they did in their first season. Consequently, this triggered a rift between the producers and the cast. Lastly, the covid pandemic also plays a major role in the show’s demise. Social distancing protocols and booking locations for the show with this big a cast weren’t smooth. However, the good news is that there is a possibility of a new show in the future. It was reported that a source close to the production said, The Hills franchise “will live on with new iterations to come.” But, it is confirmed that ‘New Beginnings’ will not be returning on television.

However, the existing seasons of the show will continue to air on Paramount+.

The Hills was a spin-off of Laguna Beach, a show from the early 2000s. Lauren Conrad was a part of the original show, who chose not to appear in the upcoming seasons.
